CUIB - “The Nest of the Chick” – Silver Ring from the Broken Traditions. City Glass Collection

Forged through the ancient lost-wax technique, this ring is crafted in 925 silver, gilded in delicate areas with gold — a play between light and tarnish, sacred and profane. At its center rests a small plate bearing the “Chick” symbol, held in place by dove claws that clutch it gently to the base. Beneath it lies a tangle of hemp fibers, humble and raw — together forming a disordered nest, both fragile and strong.

The “Chick” motif, found in old Romanian tapestries and ceramics, speaks of home, growth, and fragile beginnings. Here, it’s reborn — a relic of memory framed in metal, surrounded by what was once discarded. The hemp beneath recalls the material from which birds weave their nests, and humans their history — a reminder of how the natural and the crafted forever intertwine.

City Glass collection, inspired by Virgil Vasilescu’s book  “Semnele Cerului”, this piece brings together ancient symbols and urban remnants — fragments of glass, coins, rusted nails, or walnut shells. Each element is a meditation on value: what we choose to treasure, what we discard, and how meaning can rise from accident and imperfection.
