Arcane Jewelry Care —

Rituals for the Eternal Glow

Always:

Before adorning yourself with jewels, let your rituals of beauty come first — anoint your skin with lotion, cast your perfumes into the air, weave your hair and color your lips. Only then may your adornments meet your flesh.

When the day’s enchantments fade and you remove your sacred pieces, cleanse each one gently with a soft cloth — banish the traces of oil and mortal touch. Let them slumber alone, wrapped in silk or cradled in fabric-lined chests, for even jewels need solitude to dream.

Never:

Do not wear your talismans when laboring with earth or flame, when tending your home, your garden, or in the frenzy of movement. Keep them far from the venom of household potions, from the alchemy of chlorine and the cauldron heat of pools or tubs.

The Care and Cleansing of Enchanted Metals

To preserve the luster of your treasures, gently wipe away the veil of time — makeup, skin oils, whispers of wear.
Use only a pure, soft cotton cloth and the tender guidance of your fingertips. When not in use, wrap each piece in jeweler’s tissue or velvet, or seal within a pouch of quiet darkness.

To guard against tarnish, swaddle your silver in jeweler’s paper and rest it within an airtight vessel.

Cleansing Silver:

Sterling silver is a tender metal, easily wounded. Handle it as you would a fragile moonbeam. To lift away light soils or fingerprints, mix a drop of mild soap with warm water — immerse your piece for three breaths, rinse with clear water, and dry completely before laying it to rest.

Beware prolonged soaking — stones of spirit such as amber, lapis, and turquoise may lose their sacred polish.
Never call upon chlorine bleach — it brings ruin to beauty.

When tarnish darkens your silver’s soul, polish it with a soft cotton cloth and a gentle metal elixir. Cleanse every gem of residue, rinse with purity, and remember: toothpaste is a false charm — it will scar your silver.

Ritual Reminders

1. To preserve your silver’s radiance, polish it often with non-abrasive care.

2. Never dry your treasures with paper or tissue — only soft cloths may touch them.

3. When not worn, let your jewels rest in cool, dry stillness.
Seal them in velvet pouches or zip-lock sanctuaries to keep away the breath of tarnish.

4. Shun chlorine, salt water, and mineral springs — their touch brings dullness and despair.

5. Avoid harsh brews, detergents, and chemical “dips” — they strip the soul from oxidized or antique finishes.

6. Never cleanse opaque stones — turquoise, malachite, onyx, lapis, or opal — with chemicals or machines.
They are living stones; let them breathe. Wipe them softly with a damp cloth only.

7. If your piece bears gemstones or pearls, keep them from full immersion.
Water weakens their settings and dulls their power.

Forbidden Elixirs

Beware the false alchemy of man:

chlorine, alcohol, turpentine, acetone, ammonia — each a poison to your adornments.
These spirits can pit, dull, or dissolve softer gems.

Petroleum is the enemy of amber and pearls — it devours their light, leaving only shadow where once there was fire.
