Pop-Up Event with Miruna Belicovici — ALTRNTV, Bucharest, 2023
In 2023, I took part in a small, intimate, one-day exhibition titled “Jewelry. The Alternative Story”, alongside my dear friend and fellow artist Miruna Belicovici. The event was hosted by ALTRNTV in Bucharest — a concept store whose philosophy aligns perfectly with what we wanted to say: recycling, rethinking, reimagining.
The theme was reinvention.
How can something old become something new?
How can a forgotten object return to the body with fresh meaning?
How can a grandmother’s brooch become wearable again — not as nostalgia, but as presence?
Over the years, I have received many custom orders in this direction. Clients bringing inherited jewelry — pieces charged with memory but frozen in another era — asking me to transform them into something they can truly wear today. Each time, I am moved by how deeply women want to carry these objects forward. It is not just about gold or stones. It is about continuity. About lineage. About honoring what was, while allowing it to breathe in the present.
This pop-up was a quiet manifesto for that idea.
The location was intentionally chosen. ALTRNTV is more than a store — it is a curated space built around recycling and alternative design thinking. It felt like the right container for a conversation about transformation and circular beauty.
It was not a large event. It did not aim to be loud. It was one day, one shared table, one shared intention. People dear to us came by. We talked, we explained, we listened. There was warmth, curiosity, and a sense of creative alignment.
Some events are about scale.
Others are about connection.
This was the second kind.
And I hope for many more like it.
